New Book! Journey to the Center of Desire: Erotic Jules Verne!

$3.99 ebook
ISBN: 978-1-61390-184-7
[wp_eStore_add_to_cart id=150]

Erotic stories in the worlds of Jules Verne, gathered together by the editor who also brought you books of erotic Sherlock Holmes, H.P. Lovecraft, and several volumes of steampunk erotica…!

Verne’s books feature daring, intelligent men facing danger and overcoming obstacles in the name of scientific discovery. Journey to the Center of Desire tells the stories of people who love the adventurers: the ones left behind, or carried helplessly along, or are otherwise affected by these harebrained schemes.

In “Lunacy” by Jean Roberta, based on From the Earth to the Moon, two brave and daring women struggling in a man’s world come up with a brilliant–and ridiculous–idea to win their freedom and future life together. Luckily for them, great men can still be made into fools by beautiful women with a plan. In Annabeth Leong’s “Journey to the Disappearing Sea,” Axel, from Journey to the Center of the Earth, is forced to realize that his precious porcelain doll of a fiancée has her own hopes and dreams and strengths and they will not be hidden any more. In Corey Reid’s “The Unresolved Wager,” (based on Around the World in Eighty Days) Phileas Fogg’s friends Aouda and Passepartout make a bet to see who can teach the man they both love that living well requires paying attention to your friends… and having lots of orgasms. In “Poulp Friction” by Evadare Volney, we learn how deep the friendship between M. Aronnax and his loyal Conseil (of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea) actually is, and that Captain Nemo’s rebellious nature and technological acumen extended to much more personal matters than we were led to believe.

Includes:

  • “Lunacy” by Jean Roberta
  • “Journey to the Disappearing Sea” by Annabeth Leong
  • “The Unresolved Wager” by Corey Reid
  • “Poulp Friction” by Evadare Volney

Looking back at “The Drag Queen of Elfland” by Lawrence Schimel

To celebrate Circlet Press’s 25th anniversary, we’ve invited some of our authors to look back at the early days. Lawrence Schimel remembers the year 1997, when we published his short story collection THE DRAG QUEEN OF ELFLAND, and launched our [non-erotic] gay and lesbian science fiction/fantasy line The Ultra Violet Library with it. He writes:

At the time, there was a healthy independent queer press scene with local LGBT community-focused newspapers and magazines across the US and abroad–which provided attention for new books about our lives that were often passed over for review in mainstream media outlets.

Science Fictional Sex is *Interesting*… Celebrating 25 Years of Circlet Press

To celebrate our 25th year of publishing, we’re getting essays and remembrances from many of our authors, supporters, and friends over the years! We just published an essay from author Jennifer Stevenson, whose first pro sale was to Circlet for a book called SEXTOPIA, where she shares a table of contents with such folks as Suzy McKeen Charnas and Catherine Asaro. She has since gone on to publish novels with publishers large and small.
Recent books from Jennifer Stevenson
In her essay she hits some key thoughts about why science fiction and sex are perfect bedmates:

When the aspects of human experience being examined are sexual, that’s when science fiction gets really interesting. The axis of change can be physical with respect to the ableness of the characters, whether they are in zero G or two G, whether the characters are in ordinary human bodies or different bodies—alien, animal, vivisected, cyborged, single- or multiple-minded, sky’s the limit. The axis can be private or public—intimate gaze ranging from anonymous to domestic, political gaze from lower class to royals as mediated by the fourth estate, even warfare between sexual soldiers. The axis can refine to include class concerns: rented sex, sexual slavery, bartered sex between unequal classes, all the intrusions of economic power into sex. The axis can range between natural and synthetic, between colonized and colonizer, between mundane and divine, between extreme gesture and minimal expression, between the expected and the unexpected, exploring the meaning of both terminals…in terms of sex. Science fictional sex can be interesting.

Sex itself runs along many axes that cannot, in real life, often be isolated and examined. We come to it pre-equipped with ability and race and class and gender and sociopolitical power and expressive vocabulary and that most elusive and yet overwhelming of all factors, personal taste.

My perpetual disappointment with most erotica is that it doesn’t travel far along any axis. It’s boring.

At Circlet Press, science fiction erotica is interesting.

Circlet Press 25th Anniversary Anthology KICKSTARTER LAUNCH!!

CLICK HERE TO SEE REWARD LEVELS AND GO TO KICKSTARTER!

Circlet Press has been publishing erotic science fiction and fantasy since 1992. Our mission has always been to celebrate the sexual imagination as a way to change the world for the better. We would like to see a world where many different expressions of gender and sexuality are accepted and celebrated in ways that they may not be in the present day.

This year marks our 25th anniversary and to commemorate 25 years on the cutting edge of erotic literature, we would like to publish a “best of” anthology, as we did in 2012, 2007, and 2002. To produce a beautiful paperback edition is going to take money.

The magic of love between women ties Like a Spell: Earth together. Four scorching stories of magical erotica.

For the Like a Spell anthology project, we asked writers to challenge the traditional tropes and send us something new—original stories of magic users, interesting twists on the typical sorcerers and mages. The response was overwhelming and exciting, and we decided to publish four separate anthologies, using the theme of classical elements (earth, air, fire, and water) as the focus for each collection.

For the earth anthology, we’ve focused on stories portraying the love between women. When we thought earth, we thought of the Greek goddess Gaia and the Indian goddess Prithvi; we thought of the ubiquitous “Mother Earth” or “Mother Nature”; above all, we thought of fertility and life.

In “Here I Love,” TS Porter explores the dynamic between a hedgewitch and a wizard. All Primrose and Dulcamara want is to open their own witch’s supply shop—together, even if their kinds typically despise each other—and they embrace their differences in order to do so. But in order to make sure it’s ready for business, there’s one more step needed to make the space their own.

In “Water and Air,” Janelle Reston shows us an ordinary young woman, Miranda, who is resentful of the magic that runs in her family but that seems to have skipped her. But when Miranda meets a young water witch, she begins to learn more about herself as well. And if she gets to sleep with the pretty witch in the process, well, so much the better.

Michael M. Jones takes us back to school frustrations in “The Hateful Chime.” Olivia is a hard-working graduate student who prides herself on doing well in class, but she just can’t seem to get the hang of Freeform Magical Techniques. A classmate’s offer to help her study—and a theory about what’s blocking Olivia’s improvisational skills—is too intriguing to pass up.

Finally, in “Amplitude,” Rae MacGregor shows us that some non-magical people can be desperately curious to see real magic up close. Callie is a physics student and a regular at a local coffee shop, where a new barista has caught her attention in more than one way. One thing leads to another, and soon Callie is offering herself as a guinea pig to test the barista’s magic.

New Book: For the Love of a Soldier, edited by Kristina Wright

Sixteen stories of passion with soldiers, sailors, pilots, and men (and women) of war. When you love someone in the military, erotic opportunities can few or far between. These authors, veterans of the erotica and romance writing world, turn their pens to the subject with insightful and sizzling portrayals of those in (and out of…) uniform.

Edited by award-winning author Kristina Wright, who is married to a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, For the Love of a Soldier is filled with sexy, romantic stories by some of the top authors in the erotic romance genre. Cat Johnson, Victoria Janssen, Lucy Felthouse, Sidney Bristol, and 12 other talented writers reflect on the lives, loves, and sacrifices of men and women in uniform and answer the provocative question: What would you do for the love of a soldier?

As editor Kristina Wright writes in her introduction, “When I married my sailor many years ago…the message was clear: duty to military service comes before duty to marriage. Moments. Hours. Days. Occasionally, weeks… That’s how romances with military lovers are measured—in the smallest of increments, because no time together is ever guaranteed.” The result is red-hot reunions and no-holds-barred passion in the precious time that is shared.

Atia Selene is the premiere magical university on the continent, and Verity Fen is its brightest star. Handsome, spoiled, and too smart for his own good,Verity has his pick of his fellow students, breaking the heart of any young man who falls into his bed. One of the privileges of Verity’s position is a servant who he treats with disdain, who may prove to be the one man Verity can’t use and use up.

Iskander cares for his master with grace, skill, and discretion, along with a heavy leather belt and a thoroughly commanding attitude. Though sex with Iskander is the hottest he’s ever had, and submission is a bigger turn-on than Verity imagined, he’ll do anything–including a jealousy-provoking affair with another student–rather than submit gracefully to Iskander’s control.

Academic life proceeds as normal until a professor orders Verity to assist him with a secret project. Suddenly, the battles of lust and control with Iskander are not the biggest challenge in Verity’s life. As Verity’s sanity begins to unravel under the influence of an undead sorceress, will Iskander’s love be powerful enough to protect him?

About the Author: Kannan Feng lives next door to Lake Michigan and her current interests include mushroom recipes, deconstructing superheroes, oracles and the Byzantine Empire. She has been previously published in Strange Horizons, Alien Skin, Ruthie’s Club, and Oysters and Chocolate. “The Lord of Misrule” originally appeared in the Circlet Press anthology Kneel to Me, and other stories of hers have appeared on circlet.com and in other Circlet projects. She will welcome great fortune and love in the new year (in bed) and her lucky numbers are 5, 8, 22 and 19.

Hot excerpt:

I earned the right to walk the halls of Atia Selene when I was sixteen, and even at that age, the masters of the Veiled University knew that I would one day join their ranks. I was a prodigy, I was brilliant, and unfortunately for the younger students and the servants around me, I was a holy terror.

After all, before I set my mind to the aetheric arts, I was the youngest son of the House of Fen, a prince by birth and gifted in every way that a man could be. I knew it, and I made sure that everyone around me knew it as well.

In the seventh year of study at Atia Selene, the students who remain are provided with an assistant, but the word fails to do the position justice. I’ve heard the older students refer to their assistant as miracle workers or genii who manage their affairs, search the libraries for the elusive tome that they need, and organize their writings, all while being perfectly even-tempered with the famously eccentric ways of the Veiled University.

It is an extremely demanding job, and when Iskander was presented to me, I was far from confident with his ability to handle it. He was tall, with blue-black hair and the warm, dusky skin that marked him as Liuban-born. There was a spray of dark freckles across his nose that made him look even younger than he was, and I guessed that was actually a few years younger than I was myself.

“You don’t look like all that much,” I said candidly.

He only tilted his head at me, unsmiling, waiting for my command, and impulsively, I reached out to palm his cheek.

Call for Submissions: Golden Age Erotica!

Call for Submissions: Golden Age Erotica
edited by J. Blackmore

Deadline: July 1st, 2017

We’re looking for erotica that reads like early-to-mid-twentieth century pulps! Think erotic Indiana Jones: adventure, romance, good guys and bad guys, with science fiction and/or fantasy elements. No steampunk, please! Diesel punk is welcome.

Submission Details:

Length: Our preferred length is approximately 3,000 to 7,000 words, but we will consider the range from 2,000 to 8,000 words.

How to Submit: All submissions must be made via email to J. Blackmore, editor, at msjblackmore@gmail.com.

Submissions sent to other addresses/other editors at Circlet Press will not be considered. Standard manuscript formatting rules apply even though sending as an attachment (MS Word .doc or .rtf preferred). Please note that this means your name, address, and email contact must appear on the manuscript itself and not simply in your email message. (If you’re not sure what standard short story submission format should look like, Google is your friend.)

No simultaneous submissions (that is, don’t also send your story elsewhere at the same time, and don’t send it to multiple Circlet editors, either), and no multiple submissions to the same book. One story per author per anthology.

All stories must include explicit sexuality and erotic focus. Romantic content is welcome, but in a short story remember to keep the details on the action and its effects on the main character’s internal point of view. We favor a strong, singular narrative voice (no “head hopping” or swapping between different character’s points of view within a scene). For more details on our editorial preferences, see the general submission guidelines on circlet.com. We highly recommend reading the guidelines, especially the “do not send” list, to increase your chances of sending us something we’ll love. Try to avoid cliches. Fresh and direct language is preferred to overly euphemistic. Sex-positive, please, no rape/nonconsensuality/necrophilia or other purposefully gross topics.

Originals only, no reprints. We purchase first rights for inclusion in the ebook anthology for $25, with the additional rights to a print edition later which would also be paid $25 if a print edition happens. Authors retain the rights to the individual stories; Circlet exercises rights to the anthology as a whole.

Call for submissions: Erotic stories on Sexual and Nonverbal Healing

Circlet Press seeks short stories of erotic sf/fantasy for:

Touch Me, Heal Me
An Anthology of Erotic Fantasy and Science Fiction
edited by Mollie Wolfe

The Concept

“Since consciousness cannot bear witness to death, the life of the survivor becomes the repetition of the reality that consciousness cannot grasp. In the traumatic encounter with death, life itself attempts to serve as the witness that consciousness cannot provide.” – Cathy Caruth, “Parting Words: Trauma, Silence, and Survival”

Marginalized identities, cultures, and individuals have survived horrific traumas that remain unspoken, whether voiced or written. Rather than relegating these traumas to the past, this repression dooms such damage to repetition without end. Freud’s “talking cure” hinged on giving voice to such silenced memories, but some traumas lie too deep to be expresed in words. Non-verbal expression, connection, and communication lie at the heart of the needed healing, making erotica the perfect medium to explore this concept.

“It is always the story of the wound,” trauma scholar Cathy Caruth writes, “that cries out, that addresses us in the attempt to tell us of a reality or truth that is not otherwise available.” Freud located this wound in language and the psyche, but we can center it elsewhere, in the body, in the physical, erotic, and ecstatic self. What erotic practices exist, or can be imagined in your stories and fantasy worlds that would allow the memories of the flesh to speak?
