Funded through a Kickstarter campaign run in 2017– the year of Circlet’s 25th anniversary– Superlative Speculative Erotica features stories voted on by the Kickstarter and Patreon supporters and reflects many of the genres published by Circlet Press: a little cyberpunk, a little high fantasy, a touch of horror, some superheroes, a bit of space opera, some paranormal… What unites these stories is their quality. Check this amazing list out:

Bête Noire” by Annabeth Leong from A Beastly Affair
“An Analog Christmas” by Kal Cobalt from Jingle Balls
“From The Shallows, Cold As Death” by Bernie Mojzes from What Lies Beneath

“Deflowered” by Avery Vanderlyle from A Beastly Affair
“Crow Luck” by Dame Bodacious from Like Fortune’s Fool

“I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Circlet Editor” by H.B. Kurtzwilde & Alex Picchetti from Like A Circlet Editor

The anthology, like the cohort of authors and staff of Circlet Press itself, features characters who identify as lesbian, gay, genderqueer, bisexual, trans, and heterosexual. The erotic activities expressed within the stories cover a similar variety, though it’s not an identical match: a gay male author can write a lesbian witch who has sex with a gender-changing demon. What label do you put on that? We call it… superlative speculative erotica.

Here’s a little taste of the very first story: Annabeth Leong’s “Bete Noir:”

For a while, Beauty and I made each other invincible. She relished every beastly part of me, and so I found myself trusting her with anything and everything—even secrets I hid while I was still a lady.

Gay Romance Bundle Teasers #4: Leather Spirit Stallion

LeatherSpiritStallion_cover_750Every day this week we’re posting a long, sexy excerpt from one of the books in the Gay Romance Bundle. Today’s is Leather Spirit Stallion by Raven Kaldera.

This is the first chapter, in which we meet Erlik, a Mongolian-tradition shaman, college student and gay leather top, and get to see him pursue his social life.

CHAPTER 1

The boots, as he pulled them on, were new to his feet, although not new themselves. They were military tanker’s boots, black leather with buckles. He had scammed them off of Chaz, who had money and was continually buying fancy pieces of black leather and then getting bored with them. The pants, too, were black leather, found in the local Salvation Army a year ago. The belt had been his older brother’s until he had stolen it, just before leaving his parents’ house forever.

Aside from that, the rest of his clothing didn’t resemble anything that someone might wear to a fetish bar. Over a simple sleeveless black T-shirt he shrugged on and tied his black silk del, the traditional Mongolian coat with fur trim. He had stitched it himself, scavenging the fur from an abandoned coat in the trash, learning to embroider the traditional patterns onto it. Unlike his ceremonial del, which was a feast of bright colors, the black del was more demure with embroidery only in indigo and white. The running horse tracked across his sleeves, his spirit animal in silver-gray. The broad silk sash of cobalt blue went around his waist and tied, then he buckled the leather belt around it. He picked up his sheath knife and hesitated for a moment, then tucked it into his boot. Wearing it at the waist was more traditional, but discreet was better; he didn’t want it confiscated by a bouncer. He picked up his handmade horsehair whip and fastened that to his belt instead. Read that message, boys.

Three Circlet Press titles are Lambda Award Finalists!

We’re very excited to announce that three titles we published in 2014 have made the finalists lists for the prestigious Lambda Literary Awards.

Best Bi Short Stories, edited by Sheela Lambert was published in May 2014 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. The first-ever anthology of bisexual-themed literary fiction, Best Bi Short Stories seeks to combat bisexual invisibility on the bookstore shelves while showing the incredible quality, breadth, and depth of bisexual literary talent. BBSS has made the finalist list for the Bisexual Fiction Lammy award. *Buy Paperback* *Ebook*

Incubus Tales by Hushicho originally ran as a web serial here on circlet.com, and was collected into an omnibus ebook and paperback edition in 2014. Also a finalist for the Rainbow Award this past year, Incubus Tales features the same protagonist as the Incubus Tales webcomic, the sweet and sexy Dhiar, incubus, shopkeeper, and erotic philosopher. Incubus Tales is up for the Lammy Award in Gay Erotica. *Buy Paperback* *Ebook*

Leather Spirit Stallion by Raven Kaldera is also up for the Gay Erotica award! Raven is a longtime Circlet Press author and this book highlights the intense BDSM relationship between a modern Mongolian shaman and his partner. Not your typical “pony play.” *Buy Paperback* *“>Ebook*

Good luck to all! We’ll find out the winners on June 1st at the gala awards ceremony in New York City. This is the 27th year for the Lambda Literary Awards. For more information check out the Lambda Literary Foundation website.
